What customers say?

“ Wonderful shop run by generous couple with incredible fresh seafood bowls!!! There is a small guest parking lot near the shop, although can only fit 2-3 cars. Based on tabelog info, it is strongly recommended to call ahead checking on opening hours for lunch. So I called around 1:30 asking if I could still get in by 2:30. The chef said sure if you get here soon, we will wait for you. But as driving in the countryside can be challenging, I didn’t arrive until 2:50, which as expected the restaurant was already closed. As I was googling at the door if there was anywhere else still open in the town, I ran into a middle-age man next to the building! I asked if he is from the restaurant and he asked if I was the one who called. He then immediately told me although the shop is closed, if I don’t mind, he can still quickly make me a bowl for takeaway!!! I got the tuna and uni bowl and it was the best I ever had!!! Everything is sooooo fresh and the portion is very generous!! I watched the chef chucked half box of uni onto the rice. His wife also offered me pickled cucumber as complimentary side dish. He told me since he couldn’t serve me in-store, I should definitely have the meal at somewhere with nice scenery. I found a place nearby with cherry blossom and view of the Tsugaru Strait and finished everything!! The food was just delicious! Thanks to this wonderful restaurant and the owner couple, this was the best memory of my road trip in Aomori! Will definitely come back again when I travel to Aomori. ”

“ I try to only go to sushi restaurants that I always go to. I feel uncomfortable going to places I don't know... I don't really want to go there!! But this time I went because I wanted to eat the tuna at Sanmai. To sum up, it completely exceeded my expectations in a good way. It's really homey and I forget that it's a sushi restaurant (lol) I went there for dinner at night, and had the omakase set menu for 6000 yen. There was a community bus that was running and arrived near the restaurant at 5pm, so I made a reservation for 5:15pm. First, we had homemade "nori", "mozuku" and "grilled salmon", followed by sashimi and nigiri. Each dish was delicious. I never knew that nori could be so delicious (tears) The food was great, but the chef was also a great talker. Before I knew it, I was drinking sake and was pretty drunk (lol) The tuna was delicious!! They served three types of tuna: lean, medium fatty, and fatty, and the lean had a strong tuna flavor!! I was able to eat the tuna from Sanmai, which I had always wanted to try, and it was the best experience I've had in Aomori. ”

“ Limited-time two-color rice bowl! Exquisite UKG! Apparently, sea urchin can only be caught around here from June to August. Today, we're using sea urchin sourced from Oma to create a two-color rice bowl of tuna and sea urchin. The tuna is the finest quality, caught at Sanma! And the sea urchin is freshly caught! Add a little soy sauce and mix it with rice to create the best UKG (sea urchin rice) I've ever eaten. If you're dining at Hidezushi, the tuna is of course excellent, but you should also try the sea urchin. Aomori's sea urchin is also exquisite! Thank you, Chef and Mrs., for the meal. 50 years since establishment, and we've enjoyed hearing so many stories. We'll be back! ”

“ Like the tuna from Oma, the tuna at Minmaya is the highest quality bluefin tuna, caught with a single fishing rod. This is a restaurant where you can eat seafood prepared by a chef who also enjoys fishing as a hobby. Reservations are required, but I was lucky enough to be able to eat without an appointment (thanks). I ate a tuna-filled nigiri set. It came with five pieces of lean tuna, pickled ginger, and miso soup. After that, two pieces of medium fatty tuna, two pieces of tuna, and three pieces of rolls (tuna wrapped in sesame seeds without seaweed) were served. The taste was absolutely amazing. It's been a while since I've had such good tuna. Thank you for the meal. The quantity is also good for such quality. The prices are reasonable. This popular restaurant is frequented by many celebrities. ”

“ The bowl featured tuna from Mimanaya in Aomori and the most delicious sea urchin I've ever had. The wakame seaweed in the miso soup was also incredibly flavorful and crunchy. The majestic, beautiful scent of the ocean's shoreline and the mellow taste of the tide - it was the first time I'd ever experienced such a meal, experiencing nature in my mouth. It was an experience you can't get at any sushi restaurant in Tokyo. It was well worth the trip to stay on the Sea of Japan side and drive along roads surrounded by greenery, sky, and water. Perhaps this is what they call the joy of life. Both the owner and his wife were cheerful and kind. Even on a pouring rain day, the restaurant was packed with customers, and everyone in the restaurant looked happy and having fun. I want to go again. ”

“ I wanted to enjoy the sea urchin caught in Minamaya, so I had some on the first day of season opening. The sea urchin, which was said to have been alive just a moment ago, was not only fresh enough that the grains stood out, but also deliciously sweet, filling my mouth. I returned and had the seafood bowl with Minamaya tuna. Delicious!! ”

- Minoru Okada -

“ I ordered the Mimaya Maguro Donburi Special and the Chef's Choice course. Naturally, the tuna is delicious, but what I always think is that the seaweed, such as wakame and mozuku, is just so good, it makes me wonder what I've been eating up until now. The chef and his wife are also very warm and welcoming, and I always enjoy a happy time there. ”

“ Such a lovely place - more fresh you can not get a tuna bowl. Very delicious! Thanks a lot for this experience ”
